Greene County district court, week ending Nov. 1

Dispositions were recently done in Greene County magistrate court for several cases initiated in district court.

Jesse Kennneth J. Summerfield, 31, of Grand Junction pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault, amended from domestic abuse assault with intent or displaying a weapon. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail; all but two were suspended. He must pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee for the time he serves. He was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge. Court costs were $141. He must also complete a domestic abuse intervention services program conducted by the Department of Corrections as his own expense.

A judgment was entered Oct. 30 against BJ Charlson, 22, of Jefferson on a charge of theft-fifth degree, amended from theft-fourth degree. Charlson was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge. He must also pay $250.46 restitution to Home State Bank. Court costs were $100.

A judgment was entered Oct. 30 against Janice Marie Napolitano, 51, of Jefferson on a charge of false report to law enforcement-simple, amended from false report to public safety entity. She was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge. Court costs were $100.

Larry Varnell, 20, of Churdan pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to a  charge of domestic abuse assault-simple, amended from domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury/mental illness; and to a charge of harassment-third degree, amended from harassment-first degree. He was sentenced to two days in jail on each charge, to be served concurrently. He must pay $48 per day for the jail time and $167.06 court costs. He must also complete a batterers education program at his own expense.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 1 as follows: Jordan Cheyenne Wiles, 21, of Bayard, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-second offense; and Melissa Ann Sanem, 30, of Churdan, OWI-third offense, driving while license barred, and driving while license revoked.
